Although there are dozens of channels that you can use to validate your idea, Facebook is by far the fastest and the least time-consuming to get set up and running.
Also, if you're launching a product to the people who follow you on social media, many of them will buy or subscribe to your stuff because they like you and want to encourage you.
But launching on Facebook ads is generally more unbiased and if you can get people who don't know you want the solution that your startup is providing, then you're definitely onto something.
If your product is targeted primarily to a younger demographic, you can also try Snapchat and TikTok ads as well. You can also try other platforms like Twitter (B2B & B2C) and LinkedIn (B2C only).
Why I prefer Social Ads:
( From now on I'll be using Facebook as a proxy for social ads )
- Targeted: Using Facebook Ads, you can target the exact demographics of your ideal customer. You can also test various demographics and see which group really needs the solution you are thinking of providing.
- Affordable: You can reach over 1000 people in the US with a budget of >$20. If you run an ad for a budget of 200$, you can get enough market feedback and see whether your CAC/LTV ratio makes sense.
- Scalable: As long as your Customer Acquisition Cost is lower than your LTV, you can infinitely scale your product through this single acquisition channel.
- Unbiased: Selling your solution to prospects who don't know you is really hard. So it's easier to identify whether you have a good product that people actually want or not.
- Immediate: You can set up your ad account, launch your ads within a couple of hours, and get results and feedback in less than a day.
